So why do we crave greasy foods when we have alcohol in our system? It's because our body increases the production of a chemical in the brain called GALANIN. Greasy, foods are generally high in fats and calories. All those fries, pizza, burgers, nachos and so on that we crave are actually the result of an increase in your body's production of galanin stimulated by the alcohol. The morning after, you are craving bacon, greasy hash browns and eggs not only to settle the stomach but also to satisfy the craving brought on by the increased galanin.
The best way to avoid blowing your diet completely and gaining excess body fat (as well as increased cholesterol and a host of other medical conditions) is to limit alcohol consumption and keep greasy, high fat, high calorie foods out of sight! Enjoy responsibly.
