literally took you through every room in the gym and completed an exercise. The
tour included such things as upright rows with a box of tiles in the maintenance
area, suicides in the racquetball court, lifting desks in offices, lifting a
kids table in the Youth Activity Center, running the stairs and medicine ball
slams out at the pool, a quick spin in the spin room, pushups in the conference
room, single leg deadlifts and headstand pushups in the yoga room, Pilates
exercises in the fitness office and sooooo much more! It was a fun way to break
up a workout and show you areas of the gym you may have never visited before!
**Many of us (myself included) tend to get into a routine when it comes to our
workout and nutrient intake. Our bodies adjust to the stimulus and results slow
or even halt. Mentally we become bored of the same old exercises and nutrient
intake. We then begin to lose motivation, sleep in rather than get up to
workout, plan other activities or just find excuses to skip the workout
altogether. To avoid burnout and breath new life into our fitness routine, it
is important to try new fitness routines, foods etc. Something as simply
changing from free weights to a kettlebell workout or from traditional strength
training to a crossfit workout or Tabata training will shake you out of your rut
and stimulate new growth in your fitness endeavors. The "tour of the gym"
workout did just that! Many of you told me after it was done that it was a
tough but fun workout. Try something new this week, challenge yourself! Instead
of doing the elliptical trainer for cardio, why not jump on the treadmill and do
a hill interval workout or take a spin or zumba class?**
