Some of my clients have already experienced using the ViPR during our training sessions and have loved it! ViPR is a newer form of fitness designed to include functional movement, cardiovascular and strength training. I wrote a blog LOADED MOVEMENT TRAINING last year http://optimumfitness1.weebly.com/blog/loaded-movement-training
which is a great read to familiarize yourself with how the concept of the ViPR works. As mentioned in my article, when we strength train in a gym, we generally perform linear movements. That is, we push or pull a load either vertical or horizontal. Real life movement involves rotation in many planes with a load. The ViPR trains the body to be functional as well as increase range of motion while under load.
Believe it or not, the ViPR was inspired by farm kids who seemed to excel in sports. The movements carried out while farming developed functional strength while the muscles were under a load which gave an advantage when they participated in sports. Creator Michol Dalcourt said, “ViPR was created from a need to foster purposeful motion and blend strength training with functional training and movement. Movement is fundamental. And what makes up effective movement is a blend of lifting, shifting, and twisting. Integrated movements like these become incredibly effective at producing results when combined with load.”
I have used the ViPR in a couple gyms personally and started using it with my clients. Some of the benefits include:
Increased mobility
Increased agility
Increased reflex and coordination
Increased range of motion
Increased flexibility
Increased explosive power
Increased strength
Calorie burn
Similar to the TRX which is one piece of equipment that can give a full body workout, the ViPR also delivers a full body workout which can be tailored to any fitness level! They come in various weights but believe me, I train people with only two different ViPR and they walk away sweaty and breathing heavy! There are tons of exercises that will not only get your body in shape, help with sport specific training but also give a workout that is challenging and fun! Contact me if you'd like to try a ViPR workout!
